The Arabia was a built by Robert Steele and Company in1852 and made its first voyage on the 1st of January 1853.  Information on the Arabia states that it had a children’s playroom and this room was the first of its kind to go to sea.  The ship had a length of 284 feet and a breadth of 41 feet.  In 1864 it was damaged off Nova Scotia and converted to a sailing ship; in 1868, it sunk.
